Crochet hook, size 6.00 mm (J) OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE

Note

A and B are worked together throughout.

 

MOTIF 1

With 1 strand each of A and B held tog, ch 6.  Join with a sl st to form a ring, being careful not to twist ch's.

Rnd 1:  Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), work 15 dc in ring, join with a sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch-3 - 16 dc.

Rnd 2:  Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 2 dc into same st as last sl st, ch 2, skip 1 dc, dc in next dc, ch 2, skip 1 dc, * 3 dc in next dc, ch 2, skip 1 dc, dc in next dc, ch 2, skip 1 dc, rep from * twice more, join with a sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch-3.

Rnd 3:  Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 5 dc in next dc, * dc in next dc, (ch 2, dc in next dc) twice, 5 dc in next dc, rep from * twice more, (dc in next dc, ch 2) twice, join with a sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch-3.

Rnd 4:  Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), dc in each of the next 2 dc, 5 dc in next dc (corner), * dc in each of the next 3 dc, ch 2, dc in next dc, ch 2, dc in each of the next 3 dc, 5 dc in next dc (corner), rep from * twice more, dc in each of the next 3 dc, ch 2, dc in next dc, ch 2, join with a sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch-3.

Rnd 5 (Joining Rnd):  Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), dc in each of the next 4 dc, 3 dc in next dc, sl st in 3rd ch of 5-dc corner on previous motif, 2 dc in same dc as previous 3 dc, dc in each of the next 2 dc, sl st between 2nd and 3rd dc after corner of previous motif, dc in each of the next 3 dc, 2dc in ch-2 sp, sl st between 7th and 8th dc's after corner of previous motif, 2 dc in ch-2 sp, dc in each of the next 2 dc, sl st between 12th and 13th dc's after corner of previous motif, dc in each of the next 3 dc, dc in each of the next 2 dc, sl st in 3rd ch of 5-dc corner on previous motif, complete same as Motif 1.  Fasten off.

 

Throw

Make 30 motifs, joining edges in same manner as joined edge on Motif 2.  Make throw 5 motifs wide x 6 motifs long.

 

Finishing

Tassel (Make 4):  Cut thirty-two 8" long strands each of A and B.  Cut two 12" long strands of B.  Put all 8" long strands tog.  Tie in the center with one 12" long strand of B.  Fold strands over the tie and wrap with the other 12" long strand 1/2" below tie.  Tie wrap and draw ends into center of tassel.  Trim ends to even off.  Sew one tassel to each corner of throw.  Watch our helpful video How To: Making a Tassel
