Hi, this is Amanda from Berroco and today I’ll be demonstrating the knit stitch worked in the English style, which is also referred to as “throwing,” since you kind of use your right hand to throw the yarn around the needle while you work. The yarn I’m using is Ultra Alpaca.

When working a knit stitch, you should always start with your yarn in the back of the work, rather than the front. So, if your yarn is up like this, you want to make sure to move it to the back. Since I’ll be knitting English style, I’m holding the yarn in my right hand.

To knit a stitch, I take the tip of my right needle and insert it into the next stitch on my left needle, going from left to right through the front of the loop. And then I will take my working yarn and wrap it counterclockwise around the right needle, and then anchor it in between them. Then I pull my left needle up and my right needle down and catch that new strand and then pull it towards the front. Then I slide what’s left of my old loop off the left needle, and the stitch has been knit.

I’ll repeat it one more time. And that’s how you knit a stitch in the English style. Thanks for watching.
